Temporary closure of GRNP’s Storms River Trail

All guests and day visitors to the Tsitsikamma section (Storms River Rest Camp) of the Garden Route National Park (GRNP) are hereby informed that access to the Storms River Trail leading to the suspension bridge (crossing over Storms River) has been closed with immediate effect.

In recognition of the South African National Park’s (SANPark’s) continued conservation initiatives in the garden route area - Hi Tec has presented Garden Route National Park’s (GRNP’s) rangers with some of their durable shoes. Hi-Tec Altitude IV and Glide hiking boots were given to 38 rangers in the Tsitsikamma Section.

GRNP’s Wilderness Section will re-open on 16th June

The Wilderness Section of the Garden Route National Park (GRNP) will re-open to the public on 16 June 2011 after the recent floods that hit that area. There has been a successful clean-up of the Ebb and Flow Rest Camp.

Co-ordination updates on Southern Cape veld fires

Since the start of the Southern Cape Fires, the Garden Route National Park has been an instrumental partner through the Incident Command Centre which has been set up in partnership with the Eden District Municipality, MTO and the Working on Fire (WoF) in monitoring and co-ordinating all plans dealing with the wild fires that has in recent weeks ravaged the Garden Route region.
